WELCOME TO FRANCISCAN FIRE

An Anglican Third Order of St. Francis of Assisi

Dear Friends,
Some of you visiting our site may have little or no background in the ministry of St. Francis of Assisi, and especially of the relevance of this ancient order to our life today in America.

Let me mention three points which, I pray, will entice you to read on:

  1. 1. The church in the time of St. Francis (13th Century), was corrupt and had followed the way of the world not the way of the Lord Jesus Christ. Sins of the flesh, money and power were rampant. God gave Francis this prophetic word: “Francis, go and repair my church which, as you can see, is fallen into ruins.”
  2. 2. God gave Francis a powerful anointing to carry out his mission. The main thrust of his anointing was to train disciples who would train disciples and move in the power of the Holy Spirit, building their lives around prayer, scripture and evangelism. His Word was this:
    • “Go from the Gospel to life and from life to the Gospel.”
    • “Preach the Gospel to all people. If necessary, use words.”
    • “Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us, inflame our hearts with love for you.
  3. 3. Whereas St. Benedict (5th Century), took his monks away from the world, St. Francis sent his disciples into the world. He founded three orders for monks, nuns and married and single men and women. Please stay with us for just a few pages and let us share a bit more of the journey of St. Francis and of Franciscan Fire, an Anglican order (CANA) and a member of the Anglican District of Virginia.
As Francis would say: “Pax et Bonum” (Peace and all good to you!) Fr. Harold Hammond, Guardian
